Has anyone seen a stealthbox or anything like that that will hold a 12" woofer? I am really getting tired of not having my cargo space. Major

ive seen 10" by MTX... not 12"s

yeah, theres a few companies that make them, but no one makes them bigger than 10", at least, none that ive ever seen.

Man thats no good. Thats all i have seen too. I guess if i want one of them there ill have to downsize. thanks for the replies. Major

I have seen one "stealth" set-up, if you can call it that, for 2 12s. It was a pannel that goes on the rear hatch some how and has the speakers firing foward. I have no idea where I saw this, or who made it but I know it is real b/c I was thinking about getting one for my X. The box was covered in the stock looking plastic and had the fabric speaker cover similar to the ones that mount in the storage area. It was very clean, and baffeled me as to how they made it work on there....especially with the hatch ebing used . (up and down...I don't know that I'd trust 2 12s hanging right above my head by some clips)

That would be really good if i could find that ill try to track it down and ill post the address if i find it. Major

Q-Logic makes a stealth box like that, but I have only seen it for the Tahoe's and Suburban's. I don't know if they have more space in the back hatch or what...
Plus, think about how heavy your back hatch would be w/ 2-12's in it. Your door supports probably wouldn't hold up. The Tahoe's and Sububan's have 2 opening doors vice a hatch.

Good Luck.

Yeah, the weight thing is bothering me too. The one I saw might have been miss labeled or something (I can't remember seeing an actual pic in an X, but I have seen a pic of the basic design). They might have meant to list it for the Expedition/Excursion maby. I don't know, but when I read it it said Explorer. Hopefully someone will find some more info on it.

Saw this yesterday from MTX. Dead Link Removed They don't list the applications on thier site yet . I would think the explorer to be one of them though.

Yea the weight would be a problem. they should be ok on a excursion and on a suburban because they have swing doors not lift. If i could get the two back plastic parts on each side of the cargo area i could just make an enclosure in that i have even designed that but those back side pieces are about $250 a piece new from ford if i screw it up cutting them. if anyone want to donate or sell the two back pieces for a xlt in grey for cheap let me know and ill just go back to my custom enclosure design and put the subs on both sides. If you have the subs firing forward they will not sound good at all. If you have them firing from one side to the other they will not sound that good either. You drive an explorer man. In long SUVS the sound needs to bounce off of the rear hatch. I tried putting my subs forward once and they were horrible.

right now i have the subs in two seperate boxes that are 1 cu ft each and they face thehatch and sound good. On my design to use the side panels the subs would be pointing at the hatch at a angle and when i moved the boxes close to that location it sounded good. but yea i had my subs against the hatch firing to the front and the sound was alot different.
