I just replaced all the components of the heating system in a 93 XLT. I have the choice of using a 13 or 16psi cap. It seems that 16psi is the motorcraft one currently available, but the other brands are 13. However, the original is 13psi motorcraft. I found a 13 on ebay and have it, as well as the 16. just not sure which one to use? Factory shop manual says 13 is typical, 16 is max.

We run 16psi on our X and have for many years and thousands of miles.

Each 1 PSI raises the boiling point 3 degrees F. That means a 16psi cap will raise the boiling point of your coolant 9f more than the 13psi cap.

With the 13psi cap the X would sometimes boil over with the heat soak. Switched to the 16psi cap and it doesn't happen now..
