Wow! I got a call from my mechanic today and he told me the reason my 03 explorer will not run is a clogged catalytic converter. He said it is a 3 piece converter and got a quote for an OEM replacement from a ford dealer for $1700. It was too late to call about an after-market replacement. He will try Napa tomorrow.
I see that Napa has it for $615, but my questions is this; can only the segment (1 of the 3 converters) be replaced or does the whole thing need to be replaced? Napa has the individual pieces are around $100 a piece. I would much rather pay $100 then $600.
