Time for new tires on the my 2006 Explorer, the Cross Terrains are getting mighty low on tread and with the amount or driving I do in snow I won't make it through another winter.

I am at a bit of a loss for what to replace them with. I was looking for something like a GY Fortera that would give a little more grip in the nasty stuff but there is not an exact replacement size for the Explorer, in fact there are very few tires available in this size.

What kind of impact would it be to go to a 245/60/18?

Factory tire is a 235/65/18

Your local tire shop will give you the exact height for each tire, manufacturers vary to a small degree in height, so check the ones in question and then make your choice I reckon

I just put BFG 265/65/18's on my 2007 explorer ironman . They fit in there nicely and are taller and wider and so far no rubbing! I have only had them on there about a week but they do fit!

Any problems with them fitting on your 18" rims?

Found this website that allows you to compare the size of 2 tires. May be useful...

Based on the Calculator Jay's tires are 5% larger in circumference and when his speedo is reading 52.3 he is traveling 55mph.
