Hello All,

I am looking to upgrade my wheels and tires on my explorer. I am looking at a set of 18x8 wheels and 255/55R18 All terrain tires. Before i purchase i would just like to make sure that the wheel and tire size change wont mess anything up with the auto 4x4 kicking in? Ive read that there can be issues and was just wondering if anyone has this current setup and how it works? Thanks!

that tire size will work, however they will be a 1/2" smaller in diameter(29.04") than the stock size tire(29.54") so they may look undersized on the truck.

You won't cause problems with the auto 4x4 as long as all 4 tires are the same size

i use this tool when checking tire sizes

Yeah i was worried about the look, but the wheel itself is an inch larger as the stock ones are 17" so Im hoping that would help make up for the space. Id stick with the 17s but i want new wheels as my stock ones are shot but they dont make the tires i like that fit the rims i like in 17. Im picky i guess lol.
