Does anybody know the best place to buy a replacement driveshaft for this BII? It has the original Dana design driveshaft.

Thanks in advance,

Bill

I had a local drive-train shop rebuild the one I had. Maybe look in the yellow pages?

Jason,

I called out local shop yesterday and they said these are not rebuildable. Do you remember how much you paid and was it for a Bronco II with the Dana style CV joint in place of the usual universal joint?

Thanks,

Bill

go to a jy and get a explorer shaft and have it shortened, better shaft anyway, and they are def rebuildable. im getting rid of mine when i swap to the 4.0 and M5OD here pretty soon, i could prob work something out with you but shipping might be cost prohibitive.

Which Explorer shaft fits with modification? Is it the 2-door Explorer Sport or the 4DR? Does it have flanges that bolt to the transmission and pinion gear? Does it have a slip joint like the BII?

I would be interested in your CV type joint/shaft, but a 1990 is different than a 1986. At least that is what I read. They list them as built after May 1989 on.

the one im going to use is out of a 1991 4 dr explorer, it needs shortened but everything else should bolt right up. it has a flange on either end and a slip yoke in the middle

That sounds good to me. I assume the Explorer uses universal joints in place of the CV joints. I believe if I can find an Explorer shaft, I can have it shortened, new Spicer u-joints installed and balanced for under $100.

That should be a permanent "fix" then.

Thanks,

Bill

Yeah it was. They rebuilt it fine. They did replace the CV with a traditional slip yoke with a grease filled cap.
It's been a long time, but It was under $300.

james duff makes a extended one - I have it under my bronco
