Ok to start off ill try to give a background on what it going on...

First i had pulled the tranny to do a rebuild and that went well. At the same time we decided to replace the 4.0 with another one because of mileage. New Clutch and everyting. I put it all back together and wanted to drive it really bad. Here was the prob. The rearend had dropped a carrier bearing and now i need to replace the ring gear and pinion and I still wanted to drive it really bad. So I locked in the front hubs and took out the rear drive shaft out just to give it a little test run. The prob is that when driving it someting is wrong. I was in third gear i think and it quit pulling so i let off the gas and it seemed to kick back in. I thought that it had to be a hub prob so i pulled both hubs and replaced them with another set. There is no noise when it kicks out. What could be wrong here? Im at a loss.

shift fork adjustment...this turned my buddies dodge in to a 2 speed (pops out of all odd gears..1,3,5)

prob is it will do it in 2nd so that kicks out the odd gear idea.

no it can happen to any gear depending on te shift fork arrangement...my buddies blazer did it in 1,2,4,and R...it all depends in the which fork is bent/misadjusted.

hows ur clutch adjustment?...i noticed its new.

The clutch is fine. Its not in the tranny and not in the front end so it has to be a transfer prob.

the t-case chain too loose? ever ride a quad with a bad chain when it skips a tooth it jerks......

its something with the transfer. I just put it in there from a ranger but i have never had one do this. When i first did my sas i drove it on the front end for a week and it never did this. This is a diffrent transfer so it might be bad.

y did u swap?

the orginal transfer quit pulling the rear axle but would pull the front in 4lo. Its weird i know. This one may have had a prob for a while and i have not noticed it till now cause im not using my rear end for now.

pull the original one apart and rebuild it.

i have two of them apart in my garage floor lol i just need some parts...Did you know these transfers have a oil pump in them.

yea, its weird some even have stators on the output shaft:confused:

put up some pics mannn

ill take some pics of the some parts from one of them and get them up shortly
