Hi:
I'm new to the forum with a question. The #5 cylinder on the 4.0 engine is using oil but not fouling the plug. The truck has 140,000 miles with good compression. The problem started at approx. 80,000 miles and has not gotten worst. Uses a little more than a qt. every 3000 miles. The spark plug threads on #5 are oily but no oiling on the electrode just a white ish tan buildup. The other 5 sparkplug threads are dry. I did change all the valve stem seals just to see if this cured the problem. #5 did stop oiling for about 500 miles (dry threads) then started again. I was wondering if the valve guides are shot and the head needs a overhaul. If so I'll get both heads reconditioned. By the way the truck still passes smog but the hc are high. No visual smoke out the tail pipe. Thanks.
