1992 XLT 4.0 Engine Swap to 5. or higher

Ok, so here's the deal guys...I'm a power guy, I'm obsessive with horse and torque, I even dream about it lol. So I have this uncontrollable urge to swap out my old 1992 4.0 engine with a newer bigger one. But I have no clue where to start, and if it's even possible. So, if you could, please tell me what I could do to swap it...Thanks!

welcome to the site... search in our swap forum... will find tons there... a 302 is probably the swap most likely to occur... the 351 is too big...

hate to say this, but the explroer is a 5000 pound truck..... and being a speed demon you should look into something that isnt a 5000 pound truck.....

Find a second generation V8 Explorer to get a ride in. After riding in one of those, then decide if that's good enough. The 302 can be used to make an exciting SUV. You probably should research the cost and labor to swap an Explorer 302 and transmission from a donor vehicle.
