Hello everyone, I have a few questions. First, When I start up my Explorer sometimes when I turn the key it just tries to crank but won't quite start, but always will on the second try but even when it does as soon as it catches it's almost like it almost dies and then evens out around 1,000 rpm and I am trying to figure out whats causing this, Maybe the cold weather? It's been in the lower to mid 30s on average around here lately. It didn't do this when I bought it but that was an exceptionally warm day at about 55 to 60 degrees. Thanks for all of your help!!

Not sure on your issue though, best of luck though!

When was the last time it had a tune up or a fuel filter change?

I don't know when the last time was that any maintenance was done to it. I just cleaned the throttle body today and fixed a hose that went to something that said ABS on it. By the way what would that be? It has too hoses hooked to it and two holes in the top which I have to get the covers for and it sits in front of the coolant and windshield washer reservoir. Thanks.

Almost sounds like the check valve in the fuel pump isn't working anymore.. I'd put a fuel pressure gauge on it before you try to start it and see what you have with the key on right away. If you have to cycle the key once, twice, maybe three times to see a good pressure it's likely the fuel pump.

Benjam :D
