I was leaving school today and i was going up a hill and i looked at the guages and noticed my speedometer was going from 35 droping to 25 and the tach was between 4 and 5 grand. I shifted to see if i lost any other gears. I still have 1st, 2nd, Drive, and Reverse. I know i should get it fixed but I just wondering how long I could go with out overdrive.

You don't need OD below ~45mph.
However, if your engine revs at 4000rpm at 25mph, you are missing more than just OD.

I'm just missing overdrive, it only ran 4000rpm when i lost it going up hill

I hate to say this but I'd give it a month. Best bet is to drain and refill the Trans fluid and reset the pcm (thread on how to do it on here) and hope for the best. Transmissions that are dying to that degree don't normally last long I'm sorry to say. I'm in college now and believe me I can understand your want to run her tills she blows.

The ol' man is not gunna be happy and i really dont wanna junk it either cause its been in the family since i was 5 and just put a new fuel pump in it and its on its 2nd rebuild so I'll have to see if any of my friends are good at working on transmissions...

Even if you find someone who can overhaul that thing, it won't come cheap. You might wanna look into some refurb with the one or the other improvement.

sam e thing happened on mine, od wont go into any gear but its perfectly fine in d, 2, and 1. i lost it one day coming home from work, i have been running it since and it seems to be alright, trans shop said it would be like 300 to fix ti if i pulled the trans myself. it has been running alrigth so far and its been broken since around christmas. its got new fluid filter and lower gaskets in it since then and i havent noticed anything else going wrong with it.
