Hi I am new here & was looking on the web & found this site, A link to a thread that Glacier991 answered & you seem very knowledgeable about explores. I have a 1994 Ford Explorer with a 4.0 & automatic trans A4LD. The truck has 89000 miles, runs great & the trans is smooth but when starting out you have to get it to app. 25 mph & then let off the gas to get it to shift from first. At that point you can drive it with no problem at all & shifts through all the other gears with no problem or hesitation. I drive it about 75 miles a day with no problem but that first shift. In looking at the forums it sounds like it could be the governor? I would like to get some more opinions. :exp:
Thanks for all the help in advance.

Welcome to the Forum!

Sounds like it could be a bad Vacuum Modulator. I had the same problem for a long time. Turned out to be a $13.00 part! Check the vacuum hose that goes down to the tranny for trans fluid. If you pull that hose off with the motor running and you get fluid, then the diaphragm in your modulator is blown. I would start by searching vacuum modulator threads and see if the sysmtoms are the same...
