1994 xlt 4wd problem

I have the electronic 4wd, and when I engage 4wd I get a loud banging thumping noise, especially when i turn. I really don't have much time to work on it during the week, because Im at college during the week, I need to get rid of my parts truck asap and I want an idea of what I can take off of it to fix mine.
