The other day my air intake seal on my 94 xlt finally withered away and got stuck/sucked into my upper air intake manifold. HAHA the explorer went crazy , it went up to around 3000 rpms and I couldn't stop. I had to turn it off or ruin my brakes.I was so lucky it didn't get sucked all the way in .

So anyways now I've been trying to find the original air intake seal at an auto parts store and online ...No luck. Right now I'm just running it without the seal and occasionally I can smell a faint smell of burning plastic . Anyone have any suggestions or a thread. I'd go ahead and do a "cold air intake" but it sounds like its not any better than stock

Junkyard or eBay is my suggestion. Guessing in your state, rubber doesn't last real long? I know around here, rubber lasts a reasonably long time so there are plenty of OEM rubber parts in junkyards that are in fine shape. Some states like Alaska, rubber lasts a REAL long time. You should be able to get a used one online, or try posting on the Wanted section of the forums if you'd rather go that route.

As for the "cold air intake" which usually ends up being a warm air intake, I have modified intakes on my Explorers but don't find them worth the hassle and reduced durability for the power gains.
