Not sure where to post this, hope this is right. Here is my problem. I have a 1995 Eddie Bauer and the windows work fine. However, if you leave the windows down and turn the vehicle off, you have a 50% chance that they will roll back up again once the vehicle is turned on. If they do not, then you have to take the door apart, completely take out the window motor, hold it in your hand for a moment, put it back in and it will work fine. If you roll the windows up before turning the vehicle off, you never have a problem.

While I understand that I could just roll the windows up everytime I turn off the vehicle, its still irritating me. Does anyone know why this is?

There is a screw on the end of the motor you can try to adjust, however, to me this is a sign the plastoc guts are going bad. To me, once you get the door panel off and you have the motor out, I would go ahead and replace the plastic guts ($25 at autozone)

well... since you can reproduce it. your best bet is to use some electrical knowledge and test the motor. Easiest way to test is with a meter... :-) When the problem occurs, unplug and check the resistance... it should have some. Then do your "hand holding technique" and test it again when you have held it long enough and further when you put it back together. I suspect you will find your answer.

Thank you both. I have no idea about nothing electrical on this vehicle, except to put the key in and it starts. I am going to assume that since both of you think its the motors (on all 4 windows??) that is doing this, it might just be better to replace the motors as I take them out, unless its really easy to replace the plastic guts in them. This gal has some learning to do!!

Maybe a bad relay. There is a few window relays under the dash. One of them is a master dr side relay, (bigger). The fact that all 4 wont roll up at the same time tells me, that it is not any of the motor problems. When you removed/unplugged the motor, some circuit was broke. There might be a chance of a cracked wire in the door loom. there might be a chance that the master switch is fubared. But I think a relay is the culprit here.

hold it.... your post was unclear that all 4 windows don't work. IF that's the case, it isn't your motors, you have a switch contact issue or broken door wire ... which get "fixed" by you "f88kin'" around in the door. get a friend to help you with the electrical stuff.
