I have a 95 eddie bower explorer with the 2wd/4 auto/4 low. For some reason i have no 4 wheel drive at all.I checedk all 4wd fuses and they seem ok, the dash indicater lights 4x4, and the transfer case shifrts to low ok, however no matter what i do it will not go into 4x4 in high or low, Does anyone know what is casuing this or how i could possibly fix this.

something else i forgot to mention, not sure if this is relevent to the 4wd, but the truck now only has defrost, no other controls work

Did you ever have 4WD or has it never worked? I would make sure all the fluids are good.

As far as the defrost only working, i haven't a clue.

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak and since your '95 uses a vacuum disconnect front axle it sounds like it's not locking. You'll need to find the leak and make the repairs.

Yeah my 4x4 always usta work.I changed the lower intake maifold gasket in the summer and it finally snowed here, so i went to use 4x4 first the first time this season and i noticed the problem, maybe i unhooked something when i did the gasket?

Sounds pretty likely.. I would start by tracing the vacuum octopus that's on the upper intake manifold and making sure everything is connected.

thanks for the help, you were all right, vaccum line riped in half, just used a piece of aquarium pump hose to act as a sleeve to join the vac line together. 18 cent fix working perfectly

Did the vacuum leak also fix the defrost problem?
