Hello!

I am new to the forum, and I hope you folks can help me.

I have a 1995 Explorer, 4.0 V-6, 4x4.

Three times, the vehicle will run well, then when I stop and cut off the suv, it will not start when I go back from the store. I am getting strong lights, hence power. The motor is trying to turn over, and the motor is vibrating like it normally does when I try to start it. Indicator lights all work properly. Battery is strong. It seems as if it is not getting fuel in there to get going.

I waited 10 minutes the first time, it started, and ran fine for 4 months. 10 days ago, it did the same thing, and sat 36 hours, then started. Last night it stranded me and my 2 kids.

Any ideas? We love the Explorer, and want to get her fixed asap. If you are in or near latrobe, please feel to e-mail me, and let's see if we can fix her!

You're probably right. It sounds like a fuel problem most likely. Try checking the fuel pressure at the rail. The filter could also be clogged. Listen for the fuel pump to come on when you turn your key on. Fuel pump? Or possibly the regulator.
Good luck.
Peace

i agree with falls guy. to expand on theses areas of diagnostics when the key is turn to the on position or run position {the one when all the info lights come on on your dash just before the cranking position} you should here a high pitch buzz from rear and under car. for only about 4-6 seconds .so Be sure your radio is turned off and any other distractions are kept quite like kids etc. it isn't a loud buzz but you must here it keep turning the key off and to the run position until the noise is verified if no noise attempt to smack the fuel tank with a mallet or blunt swingable object while cranking the car [trying to start] sometimes this will jar the pump and its armature {faulting part within pump} just enough to allow it to function one more time. get it to a trustworthy mechanic and not the dealership and have the pump ,strainer, and filter all replaced. no need for a injection cleaner or flush thats all b.s. good luck
