1997 ford explorer
hello guys
I am new to the board so I hope the post is showing up.
I have a 1997 ford explorer that set up in a field for 5 years or so.
I pulled the tank out and cleaned it out and put in a new fuel pump and filter and the old girl started right up.we put some tires and a few other things on it ,and hit the road with it .
she drove just fine for 2 days and then we stopped to put gas in it and before we got 30 feet away from the gas station it started stalling when giving it more then 20 % gas pedal ,it will idle all day long and run like a Top but when you give it more then a little gas it misses .fist I thought it might be getting hot from a stuck Thermostat so I changed it but no help.
the air filter was dirty so I changed it and no help
I got the code but can't remember it right now but I think it was PO442(a gas cap and or a Gas tank fuel tank vent blockage) but that code has been on this truck for yeas and it has always run just fine with it
any ideas what it may be ?
I did get the new fuel pump off of eBay for 60 bucks but it did look good.
Appreciate any ideas you guys may want to share
Thanks
Blaine
