Update on all that noise.
There were odd inconsistencies in the pattern of the noises.
I was installing new front shocks and, lo and behold, the bushings on the sway bar were all shot. When my mechanic looked at it, it was on a drive on lift, so the connecting rods were tight. Up on a floor jack, I could turn them by hand.
WHEW!
