I know, it's not an Explorer (but I do own one at least!), but I need some help.

Changing the rear brake cylinder on a 1996 F-250 5.8L V8 4WD truck as it is leaking. I have the drum off and a bunch of the springs off, but the e-brake assembly is keeping me from getting the brake cylinder out.

I should have taken pictures prior to removing the springs but I didn't. I also don't want to remove the other drum because this one was a nightmare to get off to begin with. This being said, can anyone help me find a diagram of the rear drum/e-brake assembly so I can get it all back together correctly?

Thank you in advance! :salute:

Here's a link to the diagram on Autozones site: http://www.autozone.com/autozone/re...pterTitle=Brake+Shoes&partId=0900c15280263259

Also, you can replace rear wheel cylinders without pulling all the hardware off. Once you have the drum off, engage the parking brake about 1/2 way. This will spread the shoes and springs far enough apart to pull the wheel cylinder out. Believe it, this does work.
The link you gave is for the F150, not F250.

I got it all sorted out. Notice the bar in front of the brake cylinder. The brake cylinder is also sitting in an "indentation".

So it would be possible to just remove the e-brake nut on the rear and slide the arm away to pull it straight out. But there is no way to get the brake cylinder out with that e-brake arm in the way.
