1997 4.0sohc explorer awd clunk noise ?

hi I just bought a 97 explorer xlt 4.0sohc awd. I have had a clunk are a really loud banging in the drive tran at 20 mph and above. I have been looking on these site for help and have pulled the drive lines,checked cv joints replaced gem mod ant body have ant help thanks

Kind of sounds like a universal joint bad in the drive shaft, but I know you said those have been checked.

I have a 97' ex sport...I had a similar noise one time....it turned out that the u-bolts on one of the u-joints were loose and it was making an awful clunking sound...but it was an easy fix !!
