1997 acts like its starving for fuel?

Filter was replaced and still it acts like its not getting enough fuel and won't stay running. Any ideas? Should we be hearing that fuel pump with the key on?

Measure the fuel pressure

The only reliable way to determine if the engine is "starving for fuel" is to measure the fuel pressure: Ford Explorer Ranger Fuel pressure test procedure

The fuel pump only runs for a few seconds when you switch on the ignition. It runs continuously when the PCM determines the crankshaft is rotating via the crankshaft position sensor.
