I just bought a 1997 awd v8. THere is a vibration at low speeds that you can fill coming up through the floor boards and brak pedal. It almost seems like something is binding?? YOu notice it the most when pulling out from a stop sign up until about 10 or so mph or when slowing down from a set speed to roughly 0-15 mph it comes back?? Also a lot of road noise from the front area as well. Thanks DOes anyone know what this could be im mainly concerned with the vibration/possible binding. Thanks

One thing that you can check pretty quick and easy is the tires. Make sure that they are the same size and brand. Sometimes people make the mistake of mixing different tires on all wheel drive vehicles. Different tires even if they are the same size can vary enough in circumference to cause binding. I've read that Chrysler had problems with the all wheel drive going out on some of their vans just because the tires where not rotated enough. I've always tried to keep a matched set of tires on a four wheel drive vehicle and rotate them enough to keep the tread fairly even.

Alright lets check a few things in the front end.
Jack the truck up and grab the tire.

If the tire will move in & out, then your hub assembly is hot. You'll actually be able to see the CV axle move in & out of the hub/spindle assembly if you look carefully.

Grab the tire at the 6 & 12 position and try to move it toward you and toward the engine. If there is considerable movement than either your lower or upper balljoints are bad.
