1997 Eddie Bauer with transmission trouble.

hi all.
I have a Eddie 97 and it's slipping 2/3 I have not pulled it or any thing yet hoping that i may be able to fix it in the vehicle. the engine light was on also l had alternator trouble but have fixed that. And the light is off now. so should I check the band tension first. and what is the inch pounds on that?.... you know what I really need is some good instructions and or tips if anyone has any to share. oh it only seams to start to slip after about 50 miles of hwy travel.

no codes. at all. since I installed new alt. but that's with a cheep tester. I do have a friend down the street who has a very expensive snap-on one. But he has been sick and at his girls house so the shop has been locked for the last week or so. the type of tester i have is a actron #cp9135 OBD II AutoScanner
