1997 explorer ball joints

on the 1997 are the lower ball joints replaceable or do you replace the whole control arm. the lower ball point on mine is bad i looked at the service manual and it said that you have to replace the control arm , but i can't hard'ly find one . but i can find balljoints all day long. the guy at napa said that he thought that the ball joint could just be replaced. but does any one know for sure and if so do i follow the manual on replacing the 1994 and eariler? help please

They are a press fit. Just borrow the portable press tool in will make the job much easier.

Yup Howard is right.. Rent or buy a portable press or Balljoint C-Clamp type tool.
