I have a 1997 Ford Explorer XLT with a 4 Litre EFI engine. It has a 5 speed manual transmission. The car is right hand drive. I am trying to find out what type of gearbox I have. I have had huge problems with the gear/transfer box and now have had to detach the forward drive shaft just to keep moving. I suspect the transfer box is the problem but can get no details in Kenya from the dealer so I can look for a replacement gear/transfer box for the car. Any help anyone can give me would be great. Once I have identified the bits needed will need to look for spares. Unfortunately deepest darkest Africa is not the best place for these.
