When i put my tranmission in low gear or reverse especially going up or down a incline the gear jumps and klunks until the motor stops. This seems to occur more often in the warm weather than cool . I thinking this might be a
servo problem but i not sure how to test before attempting repair myself. The vehicle drives great on the highway and never stops at intersections. :salute:

More data.... Engine, tranny? Transfer case (Control Trac or AWD)

2 wheel drive 1997 ford explorer without control trac.....4.0 six cylinder.
This disruption of gears started only while trying to shift in reverse. Now it has progressed to frist gear in forward drive.

Reverse and first share a common thing... the "low/reverse" band.

I am having trouble seeing how anything in that band's engagement could cause engine seizure. Generally engine seizure is a torque convertor issue..... I need to try and wrap my brain abound how that could happen here....

thinking....
