Hello all... this is a gr8 resrouce that I have used int he past... IM now at a loss for what is going on with my X now.

Problems started weeks ago... sounded like leak... click clackin along... no loss of power, would crank up fine... cranked one morning and was LOTS louder... but kept on running... father n law had a look at it and could not find anything that could be causing the noises we were hearing... so planned on doign a few other things the up comign saturday (change the oil, etc...) well... the Friday eve before, I cranked it up fine, drove to a red light, took off fine... stopped at another red light and the light turned green... hit the gas and nothing... sounded like i was getting no fuel, had no power... eased into a fire stations parking lot... would crank back up but when would put it in gear, would stall out and die. So had to get a tow to my pop n laws shop. since then, we have put new plugs (which were a booger to get out), new fuel filter, fresh oil change... now the dogon thing wont even start! It will crank, turnover and over... nothing... I love this vehicle and have had it for a long time (has 221,000 miles on it)... there have been a few things here and there to go out, but have been able to diagnose and repair within a day or two. Im now going on 11 days with no vehicle... stinks to say the least!

Oh and one other thing... in the mornings, I would crank it to warm up a few minutes... when I would get in the car, the check engine light would be blinking... I could turn the engine off and crank again... the check engine light would stay on (has been on and only went off here and there since goign over 100k miles) but drove fine. The tranny had started slipping a bit, mainly when cold and turning sharply to right or left from a dead stop... only slippage was the 1st gear.

If anyone has any ideas on what to do from here, please fire away... fuel pump works, fuel filter is good, get plenty of pressure in the fuel line... thinking it has to be something to do with timing chain, spark plugs we put in, some sensor, etc... after we did all of the above mentioned changes we fired it up and it cranked up and I thought gr8 we fixed it, went to put in gear and it began stalling out again and died... now will not crank at all.

Any ideas would be gr8ly appreciated!!!

thanks

Your timing chain is grinding away at metal. The tensioners are shot.Get into a repair asap.
