Hello to all,
New to forum and have an issue with explorer. Front end makes a lound clunking, binding sound when the wheels are turned toward the right, even when I am not driving. When driving there seems to be a rattle in the front that gets more pronounced when I make a right turn. Sometimes seems that front wheels are binding and retarding the car. I have jacked up the tires and both seem to spin freely and neither move when i shake looking at ball joints though that could still be the problem. Just wanted a few ideas. Thanks to all.

could be your cv joints

I second that... easy enough to replace.

Check the boots on the CVs and see if they are at all cracked. Binding and popping is really the tell-tale sign of bad CVs.

Thanks guys,
I am having my mechaninc take a look at it sometime this week. I noticed that while sitting still the front end only makes the noise when i am holding on the brakes slightly so I am going to take a look at those as well. The boots on the CVs look good, is there any other thing to look at to determine if the CVs are bad?

Thanks again.
