1998 xlt stuck in low 4x4

I recently switched into low 4x4 and is now stuck there and will not switch back to auto. Any suggestions on what to do? Thanks Paul

tap the shift motor on the t-case with a hammer.

Or, he could try fixing the problem.

Does the 4x4 low light stay on? Are you stopped, in neutral, with your foot on the brakes?

In the power distribution block under the hood, check fuse #6 (20A Maxi). If that's good, we've got a LOT of electrical troubleshooting to do. How comfortable are you doing electrical troubleshooting?

thanks for the reply,I did fiqure out that i need to be in neutral and foot on the brake

LOL! I always make it a point to ask... about one a month have the same problem: Operator error LOL!
