Was this only considered for the AWDs or also for the non-AWDs?
Vehicle is disposable item but want to drive for a while as 4x2. Does this work?

It depends on what the issue is. What’s wrong with it?

Basically want to drive this while I look for something else.
Mechanic said Transfer case. He said he was going to look into this but I have all of you guys.

If it’s noisy pull the shaft and see. Should only take 20 minutes.

There’s a brown wire under the seat that cuts power to the clutch, that would keep it from ever engaging.

Remember I'm zero percent mechanic but learn something every time I post.

My goal is to be able to drive the 4x4 with the bad transfer case in a non 4x4 mode while looking for a different vehicle.
So are you saying remove the shaft and cut that brown wire (does it have a name) and I'm able to drive with the rear wheels turning and not causing further damage to the vehicle?

If you have a problem with the clutch, or driven portion of the transfer case you might only have to cut the wire.

This might not be the case, as the front axle is live and will drive the shaft any time the front wheels turn.
