- 1999 Explorer Eddie Bauer
I'm replacing the original 6-CD Car Stereo on my step-daughter's 1999 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer with an aftermarket mp3 stereo. I bought what looked to be the correct wiring harness, and everything went great until I went to hook up the speaker connection. The black female connector running from the car bumps at the "rails" on the green male connector that it should plug into. It appears like it should fit perfectly except for the rails being in the way. I checked out auto parts stores, the local Best Buy car audio center, and another local audio store, and none of the workers there had any idea - they all thought the stock Ford harness that we had should work fine. I checked out two other harnesses that looked correct, and they had the same issue.
The stereo powers up just fine, but I can't get any sound from the speakers. I have pictures if necessary, as I'm probably not explaining it very well. Any ideas out there? I'm happy to send a picture if necessary, or post them here if someone can show me how.
