1999 Explorer Shakes When I Accelerate

Problem: I have a 1999 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer. Initially pressing on the accelerator is fine, but once I get going and try to accelerate I get some pretty violent shaking. If I let off the pedal, the shaking stops. The shaking also stops if I continue to accelerate for about 5 seconds or so. I've tried accelerating pretty hard to clear the catalytic converter of anything that may be "clogged" but that doesn't seem to help much.

The check engine light has NOT come on.

Does anyone have any ideas on what needs to be replaced?

Had the same prob, I found 2 things my rear bumper was really lose and one of my exhuast hangers broke. The other thing that stopped mine from doing it was the diff fluid was low so that was refilled. It still does it very little and they think if I give it a tune up it will go away completely.

maybe a torque converter? Just a thought...
