1999 explorer xlt 4.0 sohc

how hard is i to change lifters/lash adjusters or are they adjustable i found new ones at advanced auto for 8.99 a pc
the problem i have is they tick till it gets up to running then they quite down so if any one can make this an easy let me know how an what i have to do up to all option right now..

did all the oil change an filter 300 miles ago the noise dont always go away most of the time it sounds like a really loud spark knock. not even pos. where the noise is comming from
