1999 Ford Explorer
It's looking I'm going to have to head up north with my motorhome and my 1999 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer AWD. I'm just one person(my wife doesn't drive much and certainly not in cities we have to pass through).

Uhaul says that the Ford Explorer is too big for the car trailer(is that true??) and can be used with the tow dolly if I remove the rear driveshaft.

I've tried to do some Google searching and haven't found much of anything. Years ago I changed a ujoint on a 1978 Ford Granada and several years before that I helped change a ujoint on 1973 Chevy Pickup. I don't remember those being particularly difficult. Is this job gonna be about the same?

It sure would make thing easier to just use a tow dolly.

Yes that would work, drive it up on the dolly and secure it, chock the back tire and then you will need a 12 point 12 mm for the 4 bolts on the rear axle pinion flange to driveshaft bolts, and they are tight so you may want an impact gun or breaker bar, I myself only undo the shaft at this point then I just hang it with a stap from the frame,
