Removing rear driveshaft question

No problemo!
Well, it only took me 6 months until finally crawling under the Green Machine, Pulling the Rear Drive Shaft, and discovering a whipped out from U-Joint. Replaced the front and rear u-joints problem solved.
Additional Question: A short way back from the Rear Shafts, front U-Joint, is a "CV Boot", and opposite force twisting of the shaft in front of and in back of this "boot" revealed a little click of movement. Should I worry about that and, What kind of joint is behind that "cv boot"??

Thanks Again!!

I don't believe that's a CV joint under the boot. I think the '96 had a sliding spline (I think they call it a cardan joint?). Yours may be a little worn, or maybe a small amount of play is normal (I'm not a '96 guy).

Glad to hear new u-joints fixed the problem. Yes, the boot covers the single cardan joint which is a type of CV joint.

I know this is probably a moot point and way too late but I've had several random rumbling type noises and after driving myself insane over a 6 month period of time I ended up accidentally finding that...in my case a strap that held the exhaust in place had shifted and was causing a rumbling noise sometimes and an eliptical...I know ehh..noise at others. I accidentally hit it and heard a noise that I'd been trying to track down for months...
Im not saying that is the cause but any object that isn't where it's supposed to be can either create or amplify any other combination of nonsense. I know this doesn't help but I figured I'd at least say something.
Thanks everyone and hang in there.
