1999 XLT Compass Woes

The Compass/Temp Guage on my XLT will not work. The LED does not come on. It worked at one point but went out about the same time as my radio LED. I just fixed my radio this weekend and now I am looking to fix my compass. How can I fix it?

Seeing that the compass/temp guage went out the same time as your radio did I would look at what you did to fix your radio. Check your connections for the compass power and ground. Start there and see what happens.

Well I fixed my radio by taking the old one out and installing a stock radio from a F-250 Lariatt. It was the same as my XLT and worked out fine. I guess I will just take the Compass down and check the wiring and everything. If that doesnt work do you guys know of a place online where I could buy a new one or how to fix it?

I fixed the Compass. Turned out to be a bad resistor. I just removed it and replaced it with a new one and it works good as new.
