so ive put my transmission back in and all is good except for 1 thing. when the car is off, i can put it into first and hear a slight metal on metal sound. not sure why, didnt do this before. i did overfill the transmission on accident, and it came out of the shifter. could this cause that? maybe the bushing under the shifter? it shifts nice and smooth.. just wondering before i start freakin. thanks

Auto or stick? Sounds like you're talking stick when you say the overfill came out the shifter...

My 1994 ford explorer sport is a manual and grinds when going into gears when warmed up. But if im ginger with it I can get all the gears without grinding. I don't know much about transmissions but sounds like you didn't put something back correctly...

Did you screw the shifter boot back down tight? I'm not kidding you, you hear all kinds of weird sounds if that boot is not screwed down. Personal experience. Maybe you forgot that little rubber seal/gasket that is between the boot and floor?

Also, check your master/slave clutch cylinders....there is a history of issues on these guys that affects all kinds of funny tranny issues like yours.

yeah i think i just had one of the little metal clips under the shifter on wrong so when i pushed it to the side and into 1st it would rub. i was just hoping i didnt bend it or something and didnt realize it. that thing got squirly on me when removing it because i couldnt get the TC off in the air (original loctite) and it spun when lowering the jack. kinda took me off-guard for a sec
