I've replaced the coil pack in my 93 twice because voltage was going in but not out. Well the second one failed as I was getting on the interstate, had it towed again and found the same problem. These were both new not pulled off a junker. My question is what could be causing this and has anyone on here had that particular problem. I would just give up and get another car but have put on new brakes and rotors, new tires, new water pump, and new ball joints. Any suggestions would help. Jim

Where are you getting your new parts from? If the 1st one failed, was it defective? You might need to use a different auto parts supplier!

...X2 especially if it was Autozone parts...

...Do you have any other symptom's like flickering lights, hard starting sometimes, or voltage gauge fluctuation's???

SOMEtimes your better off pulling them from a 'junker' in the `yard, rather than buying them new...

My family has had a total of 8 Ford Explorers/Mountaineers and NEVER have they had a Coil Pack Failure. It is just not a common fail part. It is HONESTLY among the most reliable parts in a Ford....ECM's are up there too...I would suspect a wiring issue that is causing low voltage intermittently, causing it to short out.
