I have a 91 2-door Explorer 4x4, and the rear driveshaft has always been out of balance. Buzzes pretty hard at highway speeds. Finally took a look at it and put it in gear off the ground, and noticed that it's got a pretty serious amount of run-out (didn't measure but it's super obvious even at a distance), especially towards the middle, almost like it was bent. Tried to balance it redneck-style with hose clamps, but nothing was able to get it acceptable. So I figure I'd get another shaft out of a scrapyard. Unfortunately, first-gen 2-doors are getting harder to find, but there's quite a few newer ones around. Will a rear drive shaft from a newer 2-door Explorer 4x4 work on mine? Couldn't find much about driveshaft lengths, etc on the interwebs, but from the pictures I could find they all look just like mine. I don't think wheelbases and much else like that changed on the 2-door models over the years.
