Well, yesterday afternoon i got a burst of energy and decided to put on my AAL's and WAR's. Even with my leaking floor jack I did the procedure as pretty much outlined on this board and it was fun and pretty easy to do.

All my U bolts spun right off, as the shock bolts, and i was gonna quit and just try the AAl's but figured its just 4 more bolts for the WAR's and i have them so went ahead and put the WAR's on too.

One bolt had to be a ****. Lower driver shackle bolt, would not budge. It wasnt rusted on the outside any more than the others were, not much at all.

The other side popped out with a few hammer blows and PB, after an hour of working and beating on this bolt i knew i was in trouble here.

I just couldnt figure out why this bolt wouldnt budge. So I put a vise grip on it and just started twisting it, seemed like just the rubber barley moved.

So for the next hour I twisted it back and forth, spraying it the whole time, I was gonna just remove the leaf but my jack was so close and the pump jack was holding the axle , and I think I had a better chance of getting it out with the spring being fixed I mean bolted in place. Didnt move as much when i hit it.

Anyway, hitting and twisting it finally gave, but even though I could now push it back and forth in the bushing, it got stuck and would not go thru to come out. I finally sawzalled the bolt twice to where it finally popped out, my hands wre hurtin big time. That was it for the nite this morning Im gonna get everything back together.

Also got my daystar 2" front lift and KC daylighters and front brush guard yesterday.

I also fixed the rusted rocker with rivited aluminum sheet and bondo just has to be sanded and painted.

Also I took that pinch weld and bent it upwards under the car, really cleans up the whole side and actually gives the appearance of a lift, cause that ugly seam is tucked under tight, and truck appears higher off the ground. I did it every 2 inches with a vise grips, then i used a 2x 4 with my floor jack to span the lasanga edge and puh it up evenly the whole way across. The little nips under there every so often i hit up with a hammer to flatten them.

My Exploder is coming together slowly but surely.

them are some nice pics !

When I dropped out my leaf springs I didn't have any trouble with the bolts like you did, but every ex is different. If I were you I wouldn't put in the daystar spacers. For the price of those spacers you could get a set of the skyjacker 2" springs, or you could get a set of f150 coil spacers for 50 bucks from the dealership and they would do the same thing.

:ttiwwp: ..sorry just had to.

I know it goes against most of the wisdom on this board but I ordered them weeks ago so Im gonna use them. Is thre something bad i should know about these things?

I have a dig camers but I was so greasy yesterday and it was inside and I was in the garage. Ill takes pics and if someone can help me pot them Id be glad to.

I was just checking because at work their filters have blocked pics in threads before. It had never happened at home thought something may have happened.

Alot of things get screwy when the cat steps on the keyboard.:D

Well got the rear done this morning and I cab honestly say Im liking it. Its all jack up in the rear now but didnt notice any extreme stiffness in the suspension, actually the truck feels tighter. My kid comes home today and stares at it and Dad what are you making a monster truck out of it? I chuckled.

I bought the 1.5" wheel spacers ld 50 was selling, along with the camber adjusters I havent received them yet or else i would put the daystars in tomorrow.

Lots of room in the rear wheelwell now but new tires are gonna have to wait for now, so im hopin the spacers will just widen the whole thing so it looks a little more proportionate to the lift for now.

Does anybody know where I can get or do they sell the tan color along the rocker and wheelwells for Eddies for 91's ? Looked at a pretty well stocked rack of dupli color but they dont seem to have it even in the brush on touch up bottles. Anybody know the code or have mixed it themselves ? I had a 66 Ford wagon that had the woody trim I mixed up a tan color using rustolium almond and a few drops of brown seems like its almost the same.

Look for an auto paint supplier. They can mix the color & put it in an aerosol can for around $15-20.

Much better than the Dupli-Color in my opinion.

hey fordy nine if you ever need help pm me.

Thanks for the offer all I know is the one thing Im not lookin foward to is fixin the oil leak on the engine which stinks up the interior. If you want you can do that one, Ill run for lunch.

where is it leakin from?

I dont know exactly but you can see alot of oil from the valve covers, and im assuming that from what Ive read on here the intake gasket needs replacing.

I know you got to take the whole top end of the motor and all the other stuff to get at it, I was even considering just letting a dealer do it, but you know it would be a grand, so I guess ill do it myself- When weather turns better and i can let the car sit for a few days.

Are there thinner gaskets available for the Ex? I know that when I had my Honda I could get thinner gaskets to up my compression... then again, that might only work with the head gaskets and not the intake/exhaust...

funny story... my buddies shop is the old village ford of waldwick and i raided it got vcg and the intake aswell...all in all with the complete 302 rebuild kit id say a good $700 worth of parts with the blue oval on the boxes/bags................................free :chug: :biggthump

only head gaskets are helpful if thinner.

Thought so... Which reminds me, intake spacers are supposed to be useful, aren't they? Something about reducing the amount of heat transfer between the head and the air in the intake?

yes but on my buddies 88 f250 the heater core line runs into the t-body to pre heat the air....pointless.......? i dont get it ya know?
