I went to pep boys and got 2 inch blocks and had them installed and the torsion bars turned at at local shop here in phoenix all for 154.37 with tax included. so with professional installation I still came in lower than the explorer express kit. How absurd is their price? Anyways the truck looks great! sorry about having no pictures. Also the ride quality actuallly improved. I retained the same shocks and springs etc. and they are now a little bit stiffer due to the drop. this suprisingly makes things better over like speed bumps and railroad tracks etc. also it definitely improved handling.

I did the same thing to mine. I got a guy here that owns an offroad store to drop mine 2.5" for just a little more than you had charged to you. Before that, I had the EE kit on, and I'm sending that back for a full refund. Btw, did you use your factory bump stops?

If they did an alignment also, then the price is not bad, but if no alignment was done, you got screwed

No alignment was done on mine, but I think it was worth every penny compared to some "other" lowering kits you can buy online.. not mentioning any names..

True, i take back my previous statement. I did the install myself and only paid about $30 for blocks and u-bolts. Then about $100 for the alignment. I need to get new bumpstops, the front is almost sitting on them, and i only have about 1.5 inches till the back hits them. I am thinking about a c-notch and baggin the rear of my X, but i am not sure yet. BTW my X is 4X4

Why don't you just shave the bump stops that are on there now? Thats what I did. Just another way to save money I suppose, but with a 2.5" drop, and shaved bump stops, I have plenty of clearance.

What did you use to 'shave' them? Did you just cut the one on the front in half and take a lil off of the rear? Or did you just remove them completely?

What did u cut them with? Sawzall?

A sawzall or rotozip should work fine

my lowering included alignment and everything, they even bought me lunch while I waited.

If thats the case expo5.0 you got a damn good deal, i'm serious!

Think I can get my wife to buy me lunch when I lower her X next week?!?! Yeah, me neither!!

Expo5.0 you got a screaming good deal on that. My wife's X is gonna cost me the same but I'm going to have to install the blocks and do the twist myself.

I used a hacksaw to cut my bump stops. Course I'm only lowered 1 1/2" so I haven't hit mine. Yet!!

You just cursed yourself! LOL j/k

Figures!

lol

Expo 5.0, I also agree about getting a great price including an alignment. I went to couple of shops here and they want around $200 for lowering which does not include alignment. Did the shop trimmed your bump stops on yours?

P.S.

Also, did the blocks from Pep Boys fit right on the axle along with the U-Bolts? I also assume that the U-Bolts will need to be trimmed off from the excess threads, correct me of am wrong.

would this way to drop your car also work on a '00 xlt 4x4?

Doesn't the Explorer Express lowering kit include some gizmos ( for lack of the correct term ) for use in alignment?

What specs do you use for alignment if doing it yourseld ( the lowering, not alignment )?

Thanks....
