My advice is to bag it right off the bat if you want to be low. To get it to lay frame, you're going to have to do some front suspension mods, along with the usual relocating of a bunch of stuff. You will need to notch and tub the rear pretty deep to lay frame. That's going to require a link setup of course. The crossmembers would have to be dealt with as well.

DJM Ranger lowered upper control arms could help with balljoint angles.

Just so you know the 95-01 X has the same front end as the 98 rangers... Except that the 95-97 X has the tortion bar mounts welded to the frame instead of bolted to the frame like the 98-01 and Ranger...

At least I believe all of that info to be right...

Not exactly Heath.

The 98 Ranger 4WDs have similar torsion bar setups, but the 2WDs have coil springs.

DoH... And since he's not looking for a 4WD then I guess it won't matter then... I was just thinking that maybe some of the ranger parts could be used on the X... Guess not though...

im with Hartman. if you want low, bag it to begin with. the only way to hard drop it is back out the torsion bolts in front and throw some blocks in the back. you can only get 2.5"-3" max. you can flip the torsion adjuster and get 4"-6" out of the front, but i can tell you from experience the ride is worse than you could ever imagine. there are no actual lowering kits, although Explorer Express sells a kit with (i think) 1 3/4" blocks, alignment cams, Edelbrock shocks, etc.

Well here's my unbiased opinion. An Explorer is going to be a lot cheaper than the Grand Cherokee. Plus, it's going to be just as hard if not harder to lower or bag a GC. In addition to that, the GC has less aftermarket support than even the Explorer (hard to believe).

You'll also catch a lot more flak having a lowered GC than a lowered Explorer just because the GC is a JEEP. Not that that matters...

what i LIKE about the jeep.. i just see it as more luxury and not so much sport utility...

A GC more luxurious than an X? May want to look into that. GC interiors are crap next to an upper trim level X.

well i dont know much about the ranger but it sounds like from the way it was talked about the 98+ rangers you could get a suspension kit for a ranger and weld on the spring perch from a 2wd ranger and you would be set....and your camber will be better like the rangers....an X that lays frame with the stock A arms and spindles will have crazy camber problems...but if you bag it the you can raise it up so its good.
