hey guys,
I came back from college yesterday and rigth away i have 2 problems with my X. It hasn't really been driven since i left for school in august but that shouldn't have to do with either of the two problems.

1) it was freezing today and when i went to turn the heater on it worked fine, warmed me right up but there is a very noticeable noise like something blocking air flow. My first thought is a left in one of the tubes or something but i am not sure. I think it is also blocking some of the air flow as well, but the noise is loud so i would like to figure it out. If i take my radio and center head unit part off the dash can i mabey inspect whats goign on back there?

2) I got home around 6pm and locked the doors and about a minute later after i was done unpacking the alram went off. now i park under a tree so i figured a leaf/swuirel or nut was the case(happens every once in a while) but then i would lock it and about another minute or two later it went off again. this happened 4 times before i just decided to leave my doors unlocked. I was worried about the truck all night. So today i went to get some boots and not thinking about the situation i looked the doors and went into the stoor and about 5 minutes later i heard the alram go off. I have no clue whats going on but i can't be leaving my doors unlocked out in public, at home i may be able to get away with but not out and about.

help would be greatly appreciated

thanks

Dan

Problem #1 sounds like a possible Blend Door issue. If you search, you should find a lot of info, it is a common problem on 2nd Gen Explorers. Usually, it sticks one way or the other - either no heat or full heat.

Anyway, I don't think removing the radio will help that much, you can access a lot of the area by flipping out the glove compartment - squeeze to get the tab past where it stops on the side. Watch out because the air bag is right above the glove compartment - its a good idea to disconnect the battery and wait for a few minutes to deactivate the air bags when working in that area

Problem #2 - Check the battery voltage. Alarms can do weird things when the battery is going dead.

First problem, No idea.

Second problem, Check your under hood switch. It will be on the passenger side fender just behind the air filter box. It looks like a push button switch. I had the exact problem and I started by cutting the wires going to the switch and twisting them together. When my alarm didn't go off anymore I knew what the problem was and I went to the junkyard and got another one. Easy fix.

thanks for the responses, i am doing research on the blend door issue now.
I checked out the wires under the hood and the push button, the alarm hasnt gone off since i pushed it a bunch of times so i will leave it alone for now. it couldnt be any easier to get to.

thanks guys

Seconded on this idea, I've had issues with alarms when the battery was dying out.
