Question for the 5.0 folks.... my 96 XLT 2WD with 100K on the clock cranks and starts on a 2-second cadence every time......meaning I turn the key and count one-thousand-one, one-thousand-two while it cranks, then it fires. It does this consistently, hot or cold.

Now you may say, WTH...be happy! And basically I am, but I've had 5.0's in other Fords and Lincolns that started much quicker than that. Also, the cranking speed seems a tad slow to me.

Might this be a battery getting ready to go? Or maybe a starter that's drawing too much juice? Or does this sound like a normal 5.0 fire-up?

try changing the plugs also turn to the key to the on position and off three times before you start it. and see what happens

My 96 5.0 starts at about 1 sec. I turn the key on and wait a second for the fuel pump to pressurize then it starts right up.

If it concerns you then you'll need to see if its a fuel or ignition issue. 2 seconds of cranking seems long to me.
