I have one 10 inch sub at the moment but I was thinking of up grading to 2 10 inch subs. Whats the bonus of the extra sub? I dont isten to much rap oir anything just like good bass in my music. Would 2 subs be to much for someone who just wants a nice sounding bass setup? thanks for your help

Doubles your fun. But don't waste your money unless you have the power to push them with. How many amps do you currently have running just your sub? Are you going to upgrade that also? Let's say that the sub you have is running great on a 300 watt amp. Now you add another sub to that same amp, something has to give. So please tell us more. But basically, if you are going to up the anti and get more power, 2 subs will sound twice as good, IMHO. LOL, always have to throw that in or I could get blasted, LOL.

Actually doubling your surface area (ie going from one sub to two subs) only increases you system by 3db. So if your pushing out 130 db right now you'll be getting 133db and the same for power. If you double the watts you'll gain another 3db. So with the sub and amp you just went up 6db. If you like your space you could consider getting a quality 10 inch sub that can run 400-500 watts rms.

if you really wanted to just stay with one sub get a good quality one and it may sound just as loud as two regular subs. i would recommend somthing not to expensive but loud like a kicker L5,eclipse,jl W3v2, also consider putting it in somthing like a vented PRO BOX which should also raise your spl db level by 3db's and remember that 3db's is a noticable difference because your ears can only tell a difference in 3bd gains. to look at Pro Box's go to proboxrocks.com

i have a 200 watt amp. The bass i have now is great I was just curious what the benfits of 2 were. Thanks for all the help and suggestions . By the way do you think Pioneer makes a decent sub then? I have a pioneer 400 watt sub at the moment.

first off your amp, 200 watts what? total or rms. And then same question for your sub.

You need about 300watts rms to a sub for it now to be over powered by your mids and highs. That is becuase your ear is able to pick up on mids and highs easier than lows. You should have about 3 times whatever your speakers are getting (total) going to your subs but nothing less than 300 watts. I guarantee you would be impressed if you put a 300watt rms amp and a 300watt rms sub in place of what you got.
