I have a 2000 Ford Explorer which is lazy and very hard to start once warmed up, so I just finished doing a fuel pressure test and this is my results... first turn of the key 10 pounds then back to 0 second turn of the key 20 pounds then back to 0 third turn of the key 30 pounds then slowly back to zero .then I start it up and it runs exactly at 32 psi does this seem like the fuel pump might be the culprit?

I'd 1st suspect the fuel pressure regulator since your pressures are too low and it bleeds pressure.

But, a complete fuel pump assembly will include the pump, FPR and check valve, any of which could account for one or more of the symptoms.

replace the fuel pump assembly. that way you'll get a new pump and a new regulator. your fuel pressure is very low. it should be around 65 PSI on a 2000 model. I assume you've tried replacing the fuel filter already?

Yea I replaced the fuel filter last week .... I have a compleate fuel sending unit from a 2010 ford ranger I wonder if the pump an regulater would be the same as or work in my sending unit?

I would doubt it, but check the part numbers on somewhere like RockAuto to see if they're the same.

If fuel was the issue you'd be getting lean codes. I suspect clogged cats.
Although you might have something fuel related going on.

Ok so being that I have a perfect ly good unit from a 2010 ranger if I can use the pump in my sending unit with some modifications, will it provide me with enough fuel pressure ? In other words I'm trying to find out if the Pumps supply the same pressures and are then regulated by the fpr?

problem solved

Just finished cutting access door & installing the 2010 ranger fuel pump in my 2000 5.0 eddie b an is working excellent running steady at 60 p.s.i ....done it all from inside the truck in a noreaster in just over an hour, what a difference in power now all tell ya, The access door is forsure the way to go, id sure hate to have been laying on my back under that truck on a day like today .Thanks for all the great info guys yas saved me a whole pile of work & money & HEARTACHE.:
