2000 Explorer XLT 4X4
Hello, I have a 2000 XLT 4X4 with the 4.0L SOHC and automatic. I have had serious vibration problems as long as I have owned it and recently after getting new front tires put on, I found out the likely cause was bad ball joints. My question is, I know that with the uppers, you have to replace the whole control arm, but on the passenger side only, there are two different control arm designs listed, a one piece that is basically the same as the driver's side one, and a two-piece design that is altogether different. How do I know which lind I have without getting under there to look? Also, I am thinking I should replace the front wheel hubs, struts and tie rods while I'm at it. Good idea, not necessary? My Explorer has 179,x.. miles on it and the old tires had significant wear to the outside edge. The rear tires are cupping or wearing on the centers, so could that be related to the front issues, or is there something else I should look for?
