Buddies extended cab back doors won’t open told him I’d fix it. Replaced the cable guides with new metal ones on the passenger side in about 30min. Zero issue

The driver side however, I cannot get open. I gave the passenger side cables a little pull by hand and it popped right open. I cannot disengage the top latch on the driver.

Seems like the latch has failed completely as I’ve pulled maybe 2 inches of additional slack out of the sheath.

I can see the side top latch has the metal guides so someone’s been here done that.

Is there another way to get it open or release that top latch?

Well got both hands on it (my fingers on the cable itself other hand up skirting the door grabbed the sheath) and pulled like hell. Got it open.

It failed because the sheath had been worn enough to allow the metal replacement guide to slip.

Then the truck wouldn’t start. Thought I killed the battery having the doors open for two hours.

Spent two more hours to figure out the shifter slop kept it from recognizing it was in park.

Turn a 45min job into an all day affair. That’s the Thomas guarantee.
