I am thinking about dropping in a v8 and I was wondering, is the 4.0 v6 transmission compatable with a 5.0 v8? Any answers would be much appreciated, thank you.:)

no, unfortunately it is not. The v6's use a 5r55e trans and the v8's use a 4r70w - very different.

welcome

Grr, sadly, I do not have the money for that. =[ Maybe some other time Haha. Also one more question, if I were to bore out the motor (i havent a clue to how much) How much more power would I be looking at? And can anyone give me a general price it is. Thanks again

That's a loaded question... There are entire magazines devoted to the Ford 5.0L - The sky is the limit with this motor (as long as you have deep pockets):D

Out of the box the Explorers came with a fantastic 5L - the heads and headers are already performance...

Haha, I'm sorry I do not have deep pockets, also I'm sorry if I was unclear, but I meant the v6 4.0, how much more power would I be looking at? Sorry about that Raga.

Hmmm couldnt really tell you on that one, i havent heard of anyone boring the v6, then again ive got the v8 and my dream is to have a 347 in mine but thats just me.....Welcome to the forums!

Not enough to make the money spent worthwhile. :)
